Social media users are sharing the things that they think are “kinda chic” with a new short-form video trend that’s all about celebrating your mental health and wellbeing.

The “Kinda Chic trend” has been blowing up on TikTok and Instagram Reels lately as participants share the things that they want to turn chic, and it doesn’t involve anything expensive or luxurious.

So, what is the Kinda Chic trend and how can you get in on it? Here’s what you need to know.

What Is The ‘Kinda Chic’ Trend?

While the origins of the Kinda Chic trend are a little murky, it began to grow in popularity on Instagram as early as April 2026.

The trend has participants write a caption that begins with, “Kinda chic to…,” followed by something related to body positivity, good mental health or general well-being that wouldn’t necessarily be considered “chic.”

“Chic,” for those who don’t know, is defined as something that’s stylish or fashionable.

Considering this, the trend is all about boosting what’s good for you and encouraging others to practice these things. Some of the earliest examples are all about body positivity, and have women celebrating their bodies in any shape and size.

How Is The ‘Kinda Chic’ Trend Used Online?

The Kinda Chic trend is most prevalent on TikTok and Instagram Reels as a short-form video trend. A video or post following the trend typically features a caption sharing a positive wellbeing practice over footage relating to that practice.

For example, a video captioned, “Kinda chic to never stop learning and growing,” over footage of someone reading a book in the sun.

The trend really blew up between July and August 2026, and now, even some celebrities are getting in on it.

Most notably, well-known actress Drew Barrymore posted a series of photos following the trend, which start with a version reading, “Kinda chic to be in your 50s.”

What Are Some More Examples Of The ‘Kinda Chic’ Trend?
