The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) is set to organise the CISCE Student Mental Health and Well-Being Conclave 2026, a three-tier initiative focusing on student mental health, emotional well-being, resilience and supportive school environments.
The initiative will coincide with World Mental Health Day on October 10, 2026, and will involve students from CISCE-affiliated schools across the country. The programme will begin with school-level discussions, followed by regional conclaves and a national gathering in Hyderabad.
From October 4 to 31, students of Classes VI to XII will participate in structured classroom discussions covering academic stress, emotional well-being, digital life, relationships, substance abuse, healthy choices, resilience and help-seeking behaviour. The discussions are intended to provide students with opportunities to share their experiences and perspectives.
The second stage will comprise regional student mental health and well-being conclaves, conducted virtually across 18 regions from November 4 to 14. Selected students and teacher mentors will take part in these discussions, with representatives chosen for the national-level programme.
The initiative will conclude with the CISCE National Student Mental Health Conclave 2026, scheduled from November 20 to 22 at the CISCE Centre of Excellence in Hyderabad. The national gathering will bring together 72 students representing 18 regions, along with teacher mentors, mental health and policy experts, and CISCE representatives.
One proposed outcome of the conclave is a CISCE Student Mental Health Charter, covering principles and recommendations for supportive school environments. Other planned outputs include a Student Well-being Index, a repository of school practices and a White Paper examining emerging mental health concerns among adolescents.
The initiative is intended to create a structured platform for students to discuss well-being and for their perspectives to inform conversations around school support systems.
