Social Security recipients are set for a 3.6 percent Cost of Living Adjustment in 2027, according to the latest projection. The Senior Citizens League says that would be the largest increase in four years, but still short of retirees’ needs. The estimate reflects a 0.8 percentage point increase over last year’s COLA of 2.8 percent, and average monthly benefits could rise by $69.75. The Social Security Administration will announce the 2027 COLA on Oct. 14.
