In the U.S., certain benefits recipients are to be issued their latest monthly money this week, as the Social Security Administration (SSA) continues August’s payment schedule for the Social Security program.
Who gets Social Security on Wednesday, August 12?
Of the 71 million Social Security beneficiaries nationwide, most are paid on the second, third or fourth Wednesday in the month, depending on their date of birth. August 12 is this month’s second Wednesday, so benefits are to be sent out to recipients born from the first to the tenth day of any month.
The complete three-Wednesdays schedule for August 2026 is:
- Born 1st-10th of any month: Wednesday, August 12
- Born 11th-20th of any month: Wednesday, August 19
- Born 21st-31st of any month: Wednesday, August 26
NB: If you receive Social Security based on someone else’s employment record, the SSA uses the other person’s date of birth.
What other Social Security payment runs does August 2026 have?
- August 3: Benefits paid to some long-term recipients
Social Security beneficiaries since before May 1997 were paid on Monday 3 August, no matter their birthday.
- August 3: Benefits paid to recipients also on SSI
Monday 3 was also August’s Social Security distribution date for recipients who combine the scheme with Supplemental Security Income (SSI), a benefit for certain low-income people. August’s SSI was paid out on Friday, July 31.
SSI is typically distributed on the first of the month, but was paid 24 hours early because August 1 was a non-business day.

Social Security beneficiaries can provide the SSA with their bank-account information using the online my Social Security tool.
