Next week, certain benefits recipients in the U.S. are due to get their July money, as the Social Security Administration (SSA) concludes its July payment schedule for the Social Security program.
Who receives Social Security on Wednesday, July 22?
Many of the U.S.’s 71.3 million Social Security beneficiaries are paid on the second, third or fourth Wednesday in each month, depending on their date of birth.
July 22 is the fourth Wednesday this month, so Social Security payments are due to be sent out to recipients born between the 21st and 31st of any month.
July 2026’s full three-Wednesdays schedule is:
- Born on 1st to 10th of any month: Wednesday, July 8
- Born on 11th to 20th of any month: Wednesday, July 15
- Born on 21st to 31st of any month: Wednesday, July 22
NB: If you get Social Security benefits based on someone else’s work record, the SSA uses the other person’s birthday.
What other Social Security payment dates are there in July 2026?
- July 2: Paid to some long-term recipients
Social Security recipients who started receiving their benefits before May 1997 were issued this month’s money on Thursday, July 2, regardless of their birthday.
- July 2: Paid to recipients who also claim SSI
July 2 was also this month’s Social Security distribution date for beneficiaries who combine the scheme with Supplemental Security Income (SSI), a benefit for certain low-income individuals. July’s SSI was paid on Wednesday 1.
Social Security is typically sent to the above long-term and twin recipients on the third of each month, but payment was made early because July 3 was a federal holiday.
