This Valentine’s Day, couples are choosing salon dates over café meetups, booking mani-pedis, hair spas, facials, and massages to relax, reconnect, and feel their best together.

Shared self-care is emerging as a new way to spend meaningful time together before the celebrations begin.

Valentine’s plans are looking a little different this year. Instead of reserving tables at crowded cafés, many couples are reserving time at salons. The shift is subtle but telling from conversation over coffee to connection through care. Shared self-care is emerging as a new way to spend meaningful time together before the celebrations begin.

According to Namika Kant, Technical Expert, Envi Salons, this change is already visible in bookings. “This Valentine’s Day, couples are swapping café catch-ups for glow-ups. Salon dates are the new love language, think pampering, self-care, and quality time rolled into one,” she explains. At Envi, partners are opting for couple manicure and pedicure sessions, luxurious hair spas, hydrating facials, and quick glow services before heading out for date night.

Kant notes that these services offer something more than surface-level grooming. “From perfectly polished nails to frizz-free hair and radiant skin, these experiences feel indulgent yet effortless. It’s less about small talk over lattes and more about shared moments of relaxation and confidence. After all, nothing says romance like feeling your best together,” she says.

A similar trend is being observed at Bodycraft Salon. Swati Gupta, Director and Head of Creative Development, shares that Valentine’s celebrations are moving toward slower, more intentional experiences. “We’re seeing a growing interest in salon dates where couples spend quality time together while genuinely unwinding,” she says.

At Bodycraft, body massages are particularly popular this season, offering couples the chance to disconnect from routine stress together. Gupta also points to haircut appointments becoming an unexpectedly popular choice. “Haircut dates have become a fun, low-pressure way to refresh one’s look side by side,” she notes. Manicure and pedicure sessions remain favourites, allowing couples to slow down and enjoy a little indulgence in each other’s company.

What stands out in both observations is that these experiences are no longer just about beauty. They are about creating shared pauses in otherwise busy lives. “These moments go beyond beauty, they create connection, care, and calm, which feels far more romantic today,” adds Gupta.

In many ways, the appeal of salon dates lies in their simplicity. There is no pressure to impress, no rush to reach a venue, and no distractions. Just quiet time spent together, emerging a little more refreshed, confident, and ready to celebrate.

This Valentine’s Day, romance is not just about where you go. It is about how you feel and couples are choosing to feel their best, together.
