Nadiad gets Gujarat’s first one-stop mart for assistive devices | Ahmedabad News

Assistive Technology Mart, NadiadAssistive Technology Mart, NadiadAssistive Technology Mart, NadiadAssistive Technology Mart, NadiadAssistive Technology Mart, NadiadAssistive Technology Mart, NadiadAssistive Technology Mart, NadiadAssistive Technology Mart, NadiadAssistive Technology Mart, NadiadAssistive Technology Mart, NadiadAssistive Technology Mart, Nadiad Gandhinagar: Gujarat’s first Assistive Technology Mart (AT Mart) of the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) was inaugurated in Nadiad on Monday, bringing a range of assistive devices for persons with disabilities and senior citizens under one roof.The mart, under the department of empowerment of persons with disabilities, ministry of social justice and empowerment, is aimed at making assistive technologies more easily accessible to people requiring support for mobility, communication and day-to-day activities.The Nadiad centre will offer a wide range of devices, including wheelchairs, walking sticks, electric scooters, bicycles, artificial limbs, crutches and blind sticks. Among the technology-enabled products available at the mart are smart glasses and AI-enabled sticks supporting 12 languages. The centre will also provide hearing aids and other devices for people with hearing and speech-related disabilities.Quoting Kheda district collector N V Upadhyay, an official statement said the mart was an important step towards ensuring that ‘divyangs’ and senior citizens can access assistive devices according to their requirements from a single location. ALIMCO chairman Praveen Kumar was also present for the launch.The launch was accompanied by signing of an MoU between Maa Gayatri Ortho Care and ALIMCO. Additional collector Vimal Barot said the AT Mart could eventually function like a supermarket for assistive products, allowing beneficiaries to access a wide variety of devices at a single location.The country’s first ALIMCO AT Mart was launched in Kanpur, making Nadiad the second such centre in India.
