Operate with your own intuition and wisdom as your guide. Your life is yours alone. Others can try to persuade you, but they can’t decide for you. They can walk with you, but not in your shoes. So make sure the path you travel aligns with your intuition and values. And don’t be scared to pave your own path while learning the way on the way. Will the people in your life always support your decisions? No. But you need to remember that life is not about justifying yourself — it’s about creating and respecting yourself. So make this your…
Crime rates continued falling across a sample of large U.S. cities in the first half of 2026, with homicide rates dropping enough to put the nation on track for another historic low in killings.A new analysis from the nonpartisan think tank Council on Criminal Justice found that nine of 13 crime categories tracked in 36 cities declined compared with the first six months of 2025. Homicides fell 18% in the first half of the year, with 215 fewer killings among the 30 cities that reported data for the offense. The decline builds on a trend that began in late 2022 after…
Stress has become a common part of modern life. Whether it is pressure at work, financial worries, relationship difficulties or simply the demands of daily responsibilities, many people search for quick ways to unwind. For some, alcohol becomes an easy coping mechanism. A drink after a difficult day can feel relaxing in the moment, but relying on alcohol to manage stress can quickly become dangerous. Over time, it may lead to dependency, worsen anxiety and negatively affect both physical and mental health, with many people needing to seek out alcohol advice from professionals at an alcohol treatment centre to get…
Over 75 million Americans receive Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits. A good number of beneficiaries use the monthly income just to get by amid higher living costs.SSI is a monthly benefit scheme for Americans with limited income or resources who are 65 or older, blind, or have a qualifying disability. Even children with a qualifying disability can apply to receive monthly SSI payments. By the time I have figured out what I want to say, the conversation has already moved on. Two topics on, usually. It is not that I did not understand what was said. I understood fine. My brain just takes the room in slower than the room moves, so by the time my response is ready, it is too late to be worth saying out loud. That lag has a name. Slow processing speed is how long it takes you to take in information, make sense of it, and respond, and for some of us that whole loop runs slower…
Social Security is a key income source for many retirees. And many people’s retirement plans would fall apart without those benefits. But in the coming years, Social Security is expected to owe more in scheduled benefits than it collects in revenue due to a shrinking workforce. Once Social Security’s Old-Age and Survivors Insurance Trust Fund runs out of money, recipients could be looking at a 22% benefit cut. But that projection is based on current workforce trends. The problem is that AI is slowly but surely replacing human workers. And if automation accelerates faster than projected, benefit cuts could happen sooner.…

A sincere compliment has the power to brighten someone’s day, strengthen relationships, and remind people that their efforts truly matter. Whether it’s acknowledging a coworker’s dedication, thanking a loved one for their support, or recognizing a friend’s kindness, genuine words of appreciation can leave a lasting impression. Often, the smallest expressions of gratitude are remembered long after the moment has passed. Compliments do more than make people feel good—they help build trust, confidence, and meaningful connections. Research has shown that positive recognition can increase motivation, improve morale, and foster stronger relationships in both personal and professional settings. When people feel…
A third of employees don’t even know if their employer offers mental health support. That gap is costing companies young talent.Younger workers prioritize mental health resources the most, but are least likely to receive themgettyWhen I was coming of age in the workforce, mental health wasn’t even a thing. I don’t mean to say it didn’t exist. But it wasn’t part of our vernacular as Baby Boomers. Missing work for physical reasons was concrete enough, but we didn’t have the vocabulary to understand or support issues rooted in mental/emotional issues. Our attempts to understand mental health challenges usually boiled down…
