Addressing the gathering, Ms. Anitha said that many students, employees and traders were facing physical and mental health issues due to stress and changing lifestyles. Yoga, she said, was an effective means of improving both physical fitness and mental well-being.

She appreciated the NTR Police Commissionerate for organising the programme, which saw participation from representatives of various government departments, private organisations, educational institutions and non-governmental organisations.

Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare G. Veerapandian, EAGLE chief and IGP Ake Ravi Krishna, Police Commissioner S. V. Rajashekar Babu, Vijayawada Municipal Commissioner H. M. Dhyanachandra, Joint Collector Ilakkiya and officials from various departments also participated in the yoga session.

The police said the programme would continue till June 21 as part of the run-up to International Yoga Day. Students presented cultural programmes to mark the inauguration of the event.
