As part of an initiative to help police personnel cope with occupational stress, the Chittoor district police on Friday launched a three-day meditation programme at the Armed Reserve parade ground here.

The programme, aimed at promoting mental well-being and emotional resilience among police personnel engaged in round-the-clock duties, drew participation from officers and staff from across the Chittoor police subdivision. Expert trainers conducted guided meditation and relaxation sessions.

Addressing the participants, Additional Superintendent of Police (Armed Reserve) M. Devadas said police personnel routinely work under demanding conditions, handling law and order, emergencies, traffic management and public grievances, often with little time for personal well-being. He said practices such as meditation and yoga could help them stay calm, focused and mentally resilient despite the pressures of the job.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Law and Order) Tarun Pahwa said regular meditation could enhance concentration, emotional stability and overall health. He urged personnel to incorporate meditation into their daily routine and make the most of the three-day programme.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Chittoor) J. Venkatanarayana coordinated the programme.
