ANZ today announced it has delivered on its commitment to fund and facilitate $10 billion of investment to support affordable, accessible and sustainable housing across Australia and New Zealand, ahead of its 2030 target.

Established in 2021, the commitment reflects ANZ’s long-term focus on supporting housing outcomes through partnerships with community housing providers, developers, institutional investors and government-backed initiatives.

By supporting customers to develop and scale innovative housing models, the commitment helped bring to market a range of housing solutions, including build-to-rent-to-own developments, specialist disability accommodation, and social housing projects.

Together, these initiatives have created new pathways into housing for people living with disability, households seeking affordable and social housing support, and those pursuing alternative pathways to home ownership.

ANZ Managing Director, Corporate Finance, Credit and Capital Management, Kevin Corbally said: “Addressing housing challenges requires new approaches that can be scaled to meet the needs of different people and communities. This milestone demonstrates what’s possible when customers, investors, government and industry work together to bring those solutions to market.”

“While this milestone is important, continued investment, innovation and collaboration will be critical to expanding housing options for future generations. We remain committed to supporting customers focused on improving housing outcomes for communities,” he said.

ANZ General Manager, Institutional Loan Product & Delivery, Michelle Sichlau said: “We’ve seen strong demand from customers looking to challenge traditional approaches to housing and develop innovative solutions to housing needs in our communities. By providing tailored financing solutions, we’re helping turn those ideas into investable, scalable projects that deliver meaningful outcomes.”

Selected projects supported through the commitment include:

    • Social and affordable housing
      • Delivered with partners including Tetris Capital, supporting 483 residential dwellings across four high-growth Queensland communities, and Community Housing, delivering 156 new social and affordable homes across Southeast Queensland.
      • Delivered 362 apartments in Victoria across five buildings including 73 social, 73 affordable, 14 specialist disability accommodation and 202 private market rental homes through a multi–partner collaboration involving Super Housing Partnership (SHP), Assemble, HESTA, Treasury Corporation of Victoria and Housing Choices Australia
      • More than $800 million committed through Queensland’s Government Programs, supporting 1,443 social and affordable homes across Greater Brisbane and regional Queensland.
    • Specialist Disability Accommodation
      • More than $700 million in funding committed since 2018 to support specialist disability accommodation, working alongside partners including Enliven Housing Group, Synergis Fund, Sana Living and Australian Unity.
      • Delivered 490 purpose-built residences in the Cairns precinct, including 245 social housing apartments, 223 affordable homes, and 22 specialist disability accommodation (SDA) apartments, through a multi partnership including Housing Australia and the Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility (NAIF).

ANZ will continue working alongside customers and partners to support housing outcomes across Australia and New Zealand.
