Mankind Pharma has partnered with the All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS) and the Eye Bank Association of India (EBAI) to launch ‘Vision Continuum 2026’. This initiative, themed ‘Connecting Care. Preserving Sight. Across Generations.’, focuses on critical eye care issues like corneal transplantation, childhood myopia, and overall eye health. The goal is to boost public awareness about eye donation, encourage early detection and intervention for childhood myopia, and equip parents and communities with vital eye care knowledge.
As part of this effort, Mankind Pharma, in collaboration with AIOS, has developed the ‘Vision Growth Card’. This card helps track children’s visual development and promotes regular follow-ups with eye care professionals. This joint venture emphasizes a dedication to enhancing eye health, empowering communities, and making a lasting positive impact on society.
Dr. J. S. Titiyal, President of AIOS, highlighted that corneal blindness remains a significant cause of preventable vision loss in India. He stressed the urgent need to bridge the demand-supply gap for donor corneas, emphasizing greater public participation in eye donation. Dr. Namrata Sharma, Scientific Chairperson of AIOS, pointed out that while 54,048 corneas were collected and 28,323 transplants performed in 2025–26, India needs approximately 200,000 corneas annually. She noted that post-COVID numbers are still below pre-pandemic levels. Sudipta Roy of Mankind Pharma warned that childhood myopia could affect 48.14% of children by 2050, underscoring the need for early attention and regular monitoring. Initiatives like Vision Continuum 2026 and the Vision Growth Card are crucial steps towards better eye care and public awareness.
