The Lake County Suicide Prevention Task Force will host its 14th annual 5K Walk/Run for Awareness and Suicide Prevention on Sept. 26 at College of Lake County.

Over the past several years, the event has had walkers/runners from many states, walking at the event or independently from wherever they are. Last year hosted a record number of participants.

Check-in is from 9 to 10 a.m. There will be a welcome and kickoff ceremony streamed on Facebook Live.

The race begins at 10:30 a.m.

A resource fair will take place from 9 a.m. to noon. This family-friendly and dog-friendly event will also have food trucks.

Registration costs $30 for adults, $10 for children 5 to 12, and free for kids 4 and younger. Teams of five or more are discounted to $25.

All proceeds go to the Lake County Suicide Prevention Task Force, a 501(c)(3) organization, and support our mission to prevent suicide and promote mental health awareness in Lake County through outreach events, professional training and community education, because one suicide is too many.

For information on the walk, how to sponsor or how to become a member, email prevention.lcsptf@gmail.com.
