The Social Security Administration (SSA) in the United States will issue the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) for August 2026 on Friday (July 31). This is because the first business day of the month falls on Saturday. Usually, the SSI payments are issued on the first business day of the month. If this day falls on a weekend, the payment will be issued on the last weekday that falls before the usual pay date.
The remaining Social Security payments for August 2026 will be released as usual. Those who were receiving their retirement benefits before May 1997 or those who are eligible for both SSI and Social Security will receive their payments on Monday (August 3). This is because SSA issued Social Security payments on the third day of every month till June 1997.
However, the single-day payment method became unwieldy as the number of beneficiaries increased yearly. So, the administration spread the payment distribution over four days in a month. Currently, SSA distributes retirement benefits to more than 75 million citizens in the US every month.

SSA will issue the first instalment of the Social Security payment for the month in the second week, and the beneficiaries will be those born between the first and the tenth of the month. The second instalment will be issued in the third week, and beneficiaries will be those born between the 11th and 20th of the month.
The third and final instalment will be issued in the fourth week, and the beneficiaries will be those born after the 20th of the month, according to the payment schedule released by the Social Security Administration.

The beneficiaries can review their Social Security account to check whether they received the money or whether the credited amount is correct. If the payment didn’t get credited immediately, an individual can wait a few business days and check the bank balance again before contacting SSA, as bank processing can be delayed.
