The international motorcycle initiative Fellows Ride has announced that Luxembourg will host its first ride on Sunday 26 July 2026, aimed at raising awareness of depression, suicide prevention and mental health.

Participants will gather from 10:00 at MotoFolks in Mertert-Wasserbillig, where they will be welcomed with coffee and pastries before the ride sets off at around 11:00. The route will follow the Luxembourg side of the River Sûre to Bollendorf before returning via the German side of the river. After the ride, participants and guests are invited to enjoy food, drinks and live music.

Founded in 2021, Fellows Ride organises motorcycle demonstrations to promote conversations about mental health while highlighting the values of motorcycling, including freedom, community and enjoyment of life. The initiative also seeks to make regional support services more visible and encourage people to speak more openly about mental illness.

According to the organisers, more than 10,000 people died by suicide in Germany in 2024, with older people particularly affected. At the same time, access to therapy remains limited and structural improvements continue to progress only slowly.

The organisers hope to raise €1,000 during the Luxembourg event to fund ten online Mental Health First Aid (EMG) courses for motorcyclists in the region. The training teaches participants how to recognise the warning signs of mental health crises, approach someone who may be struggling and direct them to professional support.

“Everyone is welcome – whether you have your own motorcycle, join as a passenger or simply come as a guest. Fellows Rides are not sad events; they bring people together to make a difference and give a voice to those who no longer have the strength to speak for themselves,” said Dieter Schneider, founder of Fellows Ride.

The route will follow the Luxembourg side of the River Sûre to Bollendorf before returning to Mertert-Wasserbillig via the German side of the river. After the ride, all guests are invited to enjoy food, drinks and music.

Motorcycle demonstrations remain the core of Fellows Ride, with volunteer teams organising rides across multiple countries to support regional mental health projects.

One recent example took place during the German Depression Patient Congress in Frankfurt on 30 May 2026, where Fellows Ride organised a motorcycle demonstration to promote greater awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness.

Fellows Ride continues to expand, with events now also held in Austria, Switzerland, Portugal, Romania and the United States. Donations are managed by the Depression Inclusion Foundation, founded by Thomas Lurz and Dieter Schneider.
