With its July payment schedule now underway, the U.S.’s Social Security Administration (SSA) has already issued this month’s benefits to multiple groups of recipients. However, many more beneficiaries must wait for the SSA’s three-Wednesdays distribution cycle to kick in.

Who has the Social Security Admin paid so far in July 2026?
- SSI beneficiaries: July 1
On Wednesday, July 1, the SSA sent out SSI payments to the scheme’s 7.3 million beneficiaries.
A benefit for certain low-income individuals, SSI is run by the SSA, but differs from Social Security as it is needs-based. Eligibility is not dependent on a claimant’s employment history.
- July 2: Certain long-term Social Security beneficiaries
On Thursday, July 2, the SSA paid out this month’s Social Security to recipients who began claiming their benefits before May 1997.
- July 2: Social Security recipients also on SSI
Last Thursday was also July’s Social Security distribution date for beneficiaries who combine the program with SSI.
Dual and pre-May ‘97 recipients typically get their Social Security on the third of each month, but were paid 24 hours ahead of schedule because July 3 was a federal holiday.
When does July’s three-Wednesdays Social Security cycle kick in?
Of the 71.2 million Social Security recipients in the U.S., many are paid on the second, third or fourth Wednesday in each month, depending on their birthday.
In July, the SSA’s three-Wednesdays cycle is as follows:
- Beneficiaries born on 1st-10th of any month: paid on Wednesday, July 8
- Beneficiaries born on 11th-20th of any month: paid on Wednesday, July 15
- Beneficiaries born on 21st-31st of any month: paid on Wednesday, July 22
NB: If you claim Social Security based on someone else’s work record, the SSA uses the other person’s birthday.
What other payment runs are on the July 2026 schedule?
- July 31: August’s SSI benefits
On Friday, July 31, August’s SSI payments are scheduled to go out a day early. This is because their typical distribution date, August 1, is a weekend day.

- Social Security retirement benefits: $2,028.00
- Social Security disability benefits: $1,493.25
- Social Security survivor benefits: $1,626.59
- SSI benefits: $738.13
