The Social Security payment scheduled for Wednesday, July 1, 2026, is for Supplemental Security Income recipients, not the main monthly retirement, survivor, or SSDI birthday-based payment group.

According to the Social Security Administration’s 2026 payment calendar, SSI benefits are paid on the first day of each month unless that date falls on a weekend or federal holiday.

Because July 1 falls on a Wednesday in 2026, SSI payments are scheduled to go out that day as normal.

SSI is a needs-based federal program for people with limited income and resources who are aged 65 or older, blind or disabled. Some recipients also receive another Social Security benefit, but the July 1 payment itself is the SSI payment.

Who gets paid on July 1?

People who qualify for SSI and remain eligible for July benefits are scheduled to receive their payment on Wednesday, July 1.

That includes eligible individuals, eligible couples, and some people who receive SSI alongside another Social Security benefit.

The maximum federal SSI amount in 2026 is $994 per month for an eligible individual and $1,491 for an eligible individual with an eligible spouse, although actual payments can be lower depending on income, living arrangements, and state supplements.

When do other Social Security payments arrive?

Most regular Social Security payments in July are not sent on July 1.

People who began receiving Social Security before May 1997, or who receive both SSI and Social Security, are usually paid their Social Security benefit on the third of the month. Because July 3, 2026, is a federal holiday, that payment is scheduled for Thursday, July 2.

The birthday-based Wednesday schedule then follows later in the month: July 8 for birthdays from the 1st to 10th, July 15 for birthdays from the 11th to 20th, and July 22 for birthdays from the 21st to 31st.

SSI recipients will also see another payment on July 31, but that is the August SSI benefit arriving early because August 1 falls on a Saturday.
