Selma Blair greets me with a hug before I’ve barely made it into the room, like we’re old friends catching up instead of meeting for the first time. It’s a warm welcome from someone whose career has spanned decades, from cult-favorite films like Legally Blonde and Cruel Intentions, to more recent turns as an author, entrepreneur, and activist, all while navigating life after her multiple sclerosis diagnosis in 2018. These days, she’s focused on something much simpler: rest. That shift is what inspired her new sleepwear collaboration with Mersea.
Because for Blair, clothing and pajamas play a big role in her ability to rest. “It’s a signal,” she says. “Comfort signals to me, oh, you can let your hair down…it symbolizes safety, home, being nurtured.”
Within minutes of meeting her, she’s laughing and pointing out the details of what she’s wearing: a silky pajama top layered under a vintage-inspired bed jacket from the line, paired with jeans and boots passed down from her mom. The look feels effortless. The 14-piece collection follows the same ethos, designed to easily move from bed to breakfast to beach. Think fluid silhouettes, luxe fabrics, and personal details that set it apart from your average sleepwear drop.
Blair on Self-Care, Being Kinder to Herself, and Comfort.
For a long time, self-care wasn’t the biggest part of the equation for Blair. “I was busy being young,” she says. Plus, the actress was booked and busy in the early 2000s, working on hits like Legally Blonde, Cruel Intentions, The Sweetest Thing, and Hellboy.
Now, she’s leaning in. “It’s not rocket science,” she says. It’s drinking enough water, lighting a candle, journaling, and finding small ways to calm her nervous system. After years of pushing past her limits, she’s more focused on paying attention to them. “I have to train myself to be more positive,” she says. “And kinder to myself.”
The Nostalgic Piece That Started It All.
At the heart of the collection is the Molly Bedcoat. If you’re not familiar, a bed coat is exactly what it sounds like—a cropped, easy layer originally designed to be worn in bed. The idea comes from her mom, who used to wear them, and one Blair packed with her when she left for college. “I’d style it like a little cocktail jacket,” she says. “I just always thought they were so cool.” That memory became the starting point for this collection. Her version is reversible, button-free, and easy to throw on with whatever, whenever. “It’s such an accessible, great piece,” she says.
That sense of love and nostalgia carries through the rest of the collection. Look closely, and you’ll find embroidered touches that feel like little love notes: XOs, lip motifs, and phrases like “oceans of love,” a sign-off her grandfather used in letters to her.

After hearing how much detail Blair poured into every piece, I was curious how the pieces would feel IRL. So I tried the Sunny Sailors Cotton Set and Sunny Sailors Satin Set from the collection.
The former, made from 100% cotton, has this just-washed-sheets feel—crisp, lightweight, and breathable. The Sunny Sailors Satin Set leans silkier and more fluid, with a polyester satin material that feels a little more luxe. Then there are the details: the piping, the relaxed silhouettes, the sweet embroidery.
When I catch a glimpse of the little “I love yous” while making my morning coffee or doing my evening skincare, it makes me feel like I’m getting another big, bear-hug from Blair. The verdict? Once I put either set on, I feel an overwhelming sense of comfort and end up wearing it well into the following day.
Ultimately, Blair says she hopes people feel something simple when they put these pieces on: cared for. “Loved.” Ready to rest, or reset, or just take a moment for themselves.
“[When] there’s fresh pajamas, there’s a fresh perspective in the morning,” she says.
