culture360.ASEF.org invites proposals from writers to contribute articles (either features or interviews), podcasts or video interviews on Redefining ‘Well-being’ through Culture.

A broader recalibration is taking place within the arts and cultural sector, and this shift is showing up most clearly in one place: a call for attention on the multidimensional contribution of culture towards good physical health, mental health, individual and societal well-being.

As highlighted in the European Commission’s Culture and Health – Time to Act report, the recognition that culture, health and well-being can be tools for responding to urgent and often interconnected global challenges is spreading.

This intersectoral field of practice has opened new pathways for innovative solutions towards how people take care of themselves, the mental health crisis, an ageing population, social fragmentation and more.

What editorial content are we looking for?

Through this call, we seek contributions that reflect on and raise awareness of the transformative potential of culture in relation to health and well-being.

Gathering examples from across Asia and Europe, we welcome articles, podcasts and video interviews that explore, but are not limited to, the following areas:

    • Artistic and cultural practices that contribute to better social, mental and physical well-being in different national, regional or local contexts
    • The role of cultural organisations and museums in nurturing emotional and collective well-being
    • Policies, frameworks and strategies that support intersectoral collaborations between the cultural and health sectors across the two regions
    • How the mental health and well-being of cultural practitioners and professionals involved in culture, health and well-being activities are being taken care of

    Who can apply?

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

    • Be a national of an ASEM member country
    • Have previous experience in writing articles, recording podcasts or video interviews
    • Be proficient in the English language
    • Have knowledge of, or demonstrate involvement in the Asian and European arts and culture scene
    • An existing channel or platform to allow for further dissemination of the content (e.g. via other arts and culture websites, online/offline journals, newspapers, publications etc.) would be an advantage
    • The writer will work in a virtual capacity and need not be based in Singapore

    Note

    • Each commissioned article, podcast or video interview will be paid a fee of Singapore Dollars (SGD) 200
    • Academic research papers and non-arts related subjects will not be considered
    • Each article should be written in journalistic style, with a length of 800 to 1000 words and accompanied by at least four pictures with appropriate credits
    • Detailed guidelines for podcast recordings and video interviews will be shared once the proposal is selected
    • For queries, drop us an email at culture@asef.org

    How to apply?

Interested writers must complete the online application form by Thursday, 26 February 2026 (6pm Singapore Time).
