The ‘Run for Hope 2026’, organised by the Global Shapers Kohima Hub, generated ₹11,200 each for two local organisations working in the field of mental health and well-being, with 100 per cent of the registration proceeds channelled to the beneficiaries.
The proceeds were donated to the Gracious Life Foundation, Chümoukedima, and the State Mental Health Institute, Kohima, following the 5-km community run held in Kohima on September 10.
The event mobilised more than 450 individuals from diverse backgrounds, while nearly 200 participants crossed the finish line. The run was organised to raise awareness about mental health and suicide prevention and to strengthen community-based support systems.
Held on World Suicide Prevention Day, the initiative sought to create greater openness around mental health, encourage people to speak about their struggles and seek support, and promote stronger community approaches to suicide prevention.
The run featured separate amateur and professional categories for male and female participants, with a total cash prize pool of ₹60,000. Winners received ₹7,000 for first place, ₹5,000 for second and ₹3,000 for third place.
In the Amateur Men category, Kelengoto Kulnu secured first place, followed by Renthonglo Tsanglao and Abemo Kithan. In the Amateur Women category, Cekrotalu emerged first, followed by Suhluvolu Shijoh and Tiapenla Amer.
In the Professional Men category, Arshad AS took first place, followed by Shiangjiu T Khiamniungan and Takasanen Longkumer. In the Professional Women category, Songmo P secured first place, followed by Chongsop and Serlibon Teronpi.

As part of the post-run programme, Clinical Psychologist and Founder of Mindspace Clinic, Ruokuotuonuo Rutsa, led a mental health awareness session focusing on World Suicide Prevention Day. She also facilitated a community pledge for mental well-being, with runners, organisers and participants taking part.
The organisers said the event was designed to bring together physical activity, community support and fundraising while helping break the stigma surrounding conversations on mental health.
Participants also shared messages centred on hope, resilience and solidarity, with several emphasising that people experiencing personal struggles should not feel alone and should be encouraged to seek support.
The event received positive feedback from participants, who described it as well-organised and thoughtfully structured.
