Government vaccination programs, zoonotic-risk awareness and herd growth are boosting demand, while advanced vaccine platforms and stronger cold chains offer key opportunities.

Dublin, Aug. 20, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — “Brucellosis Vaccines – Market Share Analysis, Industry Trends & Statistics, Growth Forecasts (2026-2031)” has been added to ResearchAndMarkets.com’s offering.

Global Brucellosis Vaccines Market to Reach USD 390.62 Million by 2031, Growing at a 6.13% CAGR

The global brucellosis vaccines market was valued at USD 273.31 million in 2025 and is projected to increase from USD 290.06 million in 2026 to USD 390.62 million by 2031. The market is expected to register a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.13% during the 2026-2031 forecast period. Government-supported livestock vaccination programs, heightened awareness of zoonotic disease risks and continued innovation in vaccine platforms are driving market growth.

Government Vaccination Programs Strengthen Market Demand

Public funding continues to transform the economics of livestock disease prevention by supporting large-scale vaccination campaigns and establishing vaccine quality standards. In the United States, a cooperative federal eradication program reduced the number of infected herds from approximately 124,000 in 1956 to single-digit levels while maintaining annual administration of about 3.5 million calf doses.

Similar approaches are gaining momentum in lower-income markets. Gavi’s 2026-2030 strategy combines grant financing with the African Vaccine Manufacturing Accelerator to strengthen regional vaccine access and production. In India, economic assessments have reported vaccination benefit-cost ratios exceeding 10 for cattle and 20 for buffalo, providing a compelling fiscal case for expanded public procurement. Public-private delivery partnerships in West and Central Africa are also improving logistics, reducing vaccine wastage and encouraging farmer participation.

Zoonotic Disease Awareness Accelerates Vaccine Adoption

Greater awareness of cross-species disease threats is increasing demand for validated animal vaccines. Studies in Ethiopia identified major knowledge gaps among smallholder farmers despite measurable brucellosis prevalence, leading to calls for stronger national education and prevention initiatives. Research in India has also identified Brucella abortus in raw milk, supporting integrated strategies that combine livestock vaccination with consumer awareness.

Coordinated communication can have a direct effect on vaccination uptake. Tajikistan vaccinated 5,000 animals during a targeted 2023 response, while Malaysia estimated brucellosis-related economic losses of RM 200.6 million, equivalent to approximately USD 62.9 million. These findings reinforce the public health and economic value of preventive vaccination.

Cold-Chain Limitations Remain a Key Market Restraint

Cold-chain and distribution constraints continue to limit brucellosis vaccine access in remote and tropical regions. Temperature excursions can compromise livestock vaccines during transport, weaken confidence in vaccination programs and increase disease risk. Field research in India indicates that solar-powered refrigeration can maintain appropriate storage temperatures, although limitations in freezing ice packs may restrict last-mile distribution.

Investment in transport infrastructure and temperature-controlled logistics is therefore becoming increasingly important. Thailand’s Q-Mark standard for temperature-controlled transport provides a potential model for markets seeking to improve supply integrity. Other factors shaping the brucellosis vaccines market include growth in the global livestock population, advances in vaccine technology and stringent regulatory and DIVA compliance requirements.

Live Attenuated Vaccines Lead as DNA Platforms Gain Momentum

Live attenuated formulations, including RB51 and Rev-1, accounted for 48.02% of the brucellosis vaccines market in 2025. Their established field performance, estimated protection rates of 70% to 80% and comparatively low production costs continue to support widespread use, particularly in established eradication programs.

DNA vaccines are forecast to expand at a CAGR of 8.21% through 2031. Their ability to support DIVA requirements and reduce concerns associated with accidental exposure to live vaccine strains is attracting investment. Regulatory guidance issued by the European Medicines Agency in 2025 has also helped clarify development pathways for plasmid-based and multiepitope candidates.

Sub-unit and recombinant protein vaccines continue to serve users prioritizing biosafety, although adjuvant requirements and cold-chain sensitivity may constrain adoption. Vector-based platforms using bovine adenoviruses are progressing through advanced preclinical development. Intranasal candidates could simplify mass cattle vaccination by reducing reliance on needles and streamlining administration.

North America Retains Market Leadership; Asia-Pacific Records Fastest Growth

North America held 39.88% of the global brucellosis vaccines market in 2025, supported by long-standing eradication programs, mandatory livestock identification, federal cost-sharing and active surveillance. Although cattle cases in the United States are largely limited to isolated wildlife-related outbreaks in the Greater Yellowstone Area, preventive vaccination demand remains stable. The region also benefits from a well-developed network of animal health manufacturers, research organizations and university extension programs.

Asia-Pacific is projected to record the fastest regional CAGR of 7.42% through 2031. India experiences estimated annual economic losses of USD 3.4 billion from brucellosis, encouraging state governments to expand vaccination procurement. China continues to invest in provincial animal husbandry programs, while Indonesia and Vietnam are directing donor funding toward cold-chain capacity and farmer outreach. Livestock growth across ASEAN, particularly within small-ruminant populations, is expected to create additional demand.

Europe remains an important center for advanced vaccine research and regulatory development, despite low disease prevalence in many European Union dairy herds. Adoption across the Middle East and Africa varies by country, but donor-backed programs are supporting vaccination among smallholders in Kenya, Nigeria and Ethiopia. South America presents a mixed outlook, ranging from advanced control programs in Uruguay to persistent disease prevalence in parts of the Andean region, creating opportunities for adaptable vaccine formulations and packaging.
