Millions of Americans plan their monthly expenses around a Social Security deposit, and another important payment date is approaching in August.
Wednesday, August 19, is the next scheduled payment day for many people receiving Social Security Disability Insurance, or SSDI.

The money is generally going to beneficiaries whose birthdays fall between the 11th and 20th of any month, provided they receive Social Security under the standard birthday based schedule.
That distinction matters because SSDI payments are not sent to every beneficiary on the same day. The Social Security Administration divides most recipients into three groups each month.
People born from the 1st through the 10th are normally paid on the second Wednesday, birthdays from the 11th through the 20th are assigned the third Wednesday, and those born from the 21st through the 31st receive their money on the fourth Wednesday.
In August 2026, those dates are August 12, August 19 and August 26.
Who should expect an SSDI payment on August 19?
If your birthday falls between the 11th and 20th, Wednesday could be your payment day.
A beneficiary born on March 12, June 17 or November 20, for example, would generally fall into the August 19 group. The month in which someone was born does not determine the payment date. It is the numerical day of the birthday that matters.
There are, however, important exceptions. People who began receiving Social Security benefits before May 1997 generally follow a different schedule.
Beneficiaries receiving both Social Security and Supplemental Security Income also typically receive their Social Security payment on the third of the month and SSI on the first.
That means not every SSDI recipient with a birthday between the 11th and 20th will necessarily be paid Wednesday.
SSI followed another unusual schedule this month. Because August 1 fell on a Saturday, the August SSI payment was moved forward to Friday, July 31.
One more Social Security payment remains in August
After Wednesday’s distribution, the final regular birthday based Social Security payment of August is scheduled for Wednesday, August 26.
That payment is intended for beneficiaries born between the 21st and 31st.
Recipients expecting money on August 19 should also know that a deposit not appearing immediately doesn’t necessarily mean there is a problem.
The SSA advises beneficiaries to allow three additional mailing days after the expected payment date before contacting the agency about a missing payment.
The easiest way to determine whether Wednesday is your day is therefore to check two things: when you first began receiving Social Security and where your birthday falls in the month.
If you’re on the standard SSDI schedule and your birthday is between the 11th and 20th, your next August payment is scheduled for August 19.
