The programme focused on the importance of early initiation of breastfeeding, exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months, maternal nutrition, newborn care and the role of family support in promoting successful breastfeeding practices.

Dr Sumati Deodhar, Nursing Director, Central India Nursing College, highlighted the importance of breastfeeding in improving newborn survival, strengthening immunity and supporting children’s physical, emotional and cognitive development.

She also emphasised the benefits of breastfeeding for maternal health and encouraged nursing students to become ambassadors of maternal and child health by participating in community awareness programmes and collaborating with healthcare organisations.

Dr Deodhar urged students to use digital and social media platforms to spread health awareness and regularly evaluate community initiatives in support of national health goals.

Mrs Arfa Sultana delivered a motivational address highlighting the importance of breastfeeding for the health and well-being of mothers and babies.

One of the major attractions of the programme was an informative street play performed by B.Sc. Nursing students at PHC, Zingabai Takli.
