Consumers across the Asia-Pacific region are placing greater emphasis on sleep, healthy eating, exercise and mental wellbeing as holistic health becomes part of everyday life.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Health and wellness are becoming increasingly important parts of everyday life across the Asia-Pacific region, with consumers placing greater emphasis on physical, mental and emotional wellbeing, according to the Herbalife APAC Wellness Culture Survey 2026. The survey, conducted in May among more than 10,000 people across 11 APAC markets, including Thailand, found that 82% of respondents considered holistic health highly or extremely important. Another 74% said it was more important to them than three years ago.

Sleep emerged as the leading wellness priority, cited by 44% of respondents, followed by mental health and stress management at 38%, healthy eating at 31% and weight management at 30%.

Age was the biggest factor prompting people to take greater care of their health, cited by 46% of respondents, followed by personal health experiences at 42%. Social awareness accounted for 32%, while 31% said they wanted to invest more in their long-term health.

The shift is also reflected in daily habits. Some 58% said they had increased the variety and frequency of their wellness activities over the past three years. Regular exercise and healthier eating were the most common activities, each cited by 45%, followed by improving sleep habits at 42% and taking supplements or wellness products at 38%. However, the survey also highlighted a gap between people’s health goals and their ability to maintain them. Only about two in five respondents felt their physical, mental and emotional wellbeing had improved over the past three years.

Lack of time was the biggest barrier, cited by 38%, while 34% pointed to a lack of motivation.

Social connections and online communities could play an important role in helping people stay on track. Some 65% of respondents said they wanted support with physical health, while 51% sought support for mental wellbeing and 46% wanted emotional support.

The wellness trend is also spreading beyond individuals, with almost half of respondents saying they had prepared or purchased healthier food for people around them or shared their own wellness experiences during the past year. More than 80% of those respondents said they were doing so more frequently than three years ago.

Thomas Harms, Managing Director of Herbalife Asia Pacific, said consumers were increasingly incorporating healthier habits into everyday life and taking a more holistic approach to physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. He said sustainable wellness requires ongoing effort through nutrition, personalized guidance and supportive communities, helping healthy living develop from an individual goal into a shared culture.
