Some Social Security Income (SSI) recipients are set to get a little extra money in July because of an adjustment in the payment schedule related to the 2026 calendar year.

The Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program provides payments to some older Americans each month who have little or no income, and to disabled individuals, which differs from Social Security’s standard retirement benefits.

    Why you should care:

Based on the 2026 calendar year, two Social Security Income (SSI) payments will be distributed in July – one was sent to beneficiaries on July 1, and they will receive another payment on July 31, for the month of August since Aug. 1 falls on a Saturday.

And later this year, recipients will receive a pair of payments for October and December because November 1 falls on a weekend and Jan. 1 is a federal holiday that’s on a Friday.

What’s the payment schedule for Supplemental Security Income recipients?

    Dig deeper:

The Social Security Administration (SSA)  typically distributes payments for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) on the first day of the month.  If the first day of a new month begins on a weekend or a federal holiday, Social

Security payments for that month are distributed on the last business day of the previous month to guarantee recipients get their money ahead of the start of the month.

Beneficiaries get their Social Security payments through direct deposit, but those without bank accounts or who prefer to receive their money through a different method, can receive them on Direct Express cards, FOX Business reported.

Furthermore, recipients can visit the Social Security Administration website to find information to enroll in direct deposit through the My Social Security platform, or via phone through either the SSA or the Treasury Department’s electronic payment solution center.
