After 3 years of recovery from a brain injury sustained in a car accident, a father surprised his children by walking independently again.

Lounging on the couch enjoying some TV time, children are excellent at completely zoning out of everything else around them.

That’s why both the father’s older daughter and younger son did a double take as he ambled by across their view.

“Daddy!” says the daughter, “you’re walking!”

“Yeah, he can walk!” cheered the son, before they both got up and followed him out of the house.

“Dad you’re walking! You’re actually walking!” they continue.

The son asks dad to hold his hand as they walk off from the house into the pine forest surrounding it.

Captured on TikTok, this tiny, intimate chapter of a long and likely painful road to recovery resonated immensely with viewers, who liked it 1.7 million times, shared it 40,000 times, and left 16,000 comments.

Among those, someone pointed out that everything the children were saying: “hold my hand, you’re walking! be careful,” the father too, had likely said—when they were first learning how to walk.
