MP – Rachel Hopkins (Left) and former Mayor Amy Nicholls (Right) | Turning Point
Hosted by Total Wellbeing Luton, the free event will take place on Friday 9 October 2026, from 10:30am to 2:30pm at Luton Central Library.
Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the wide range of mental health and wellbeing services available across the town.
Representatives from 40 local community and voluntary organisations, such as East of England Health and Care NHS Trust, Luton Sexual Health, music24 and more, will be on hand throughout the event to offer advice, guidance and signposting to services covering a range of areas, including mental health, physical wellbeing, social support, lifestyle services and community activities.
The event will feature guest speakers which will include Luton Mayor Councillor Javed Hussain, representatives from Luton’s all women’s centre, and people with lived experience will share their stories.
Total Wellbeing Luton is a free health and wellbeing service supporting Luton residents to improve their physical and mental wellbeing through a range of lifestyle, emotional wellbeing and community-based programmes. The service is delivered by Turning Point in partnership with local organisations and healthcare providers.
The Mental Health Awareness Day is an important opportunity for professionals and local residents to come together and learn more about the services available.
Low mood can affect people either directly or through the people they care about. Creating spaces where conversations can take place about mental health will hopefully give attendees the opportunity to feel informed, connected, and empowered to look after their own wellbeing and support others around them.
Nazma Miah Community Development Co-ordinator for Total Wellbeing Luton and organiser of the event said: “Raising awareness of mental health helps break down stigma, encourages people to seek support earlier, and reminds individuals that they are not alone. The more we talk about our emotional health, the stronger and compassionate we become – especially towards ourselves!
“A key part of the day will be hearing real-life testimonials and insights from individuals and organisations. These personal experiences can be powerful in helping people understand the realities of how life can challenge us.
“This will hopefully reduce stigma and encourage more open conversations and inspire our community to look after one’s emotional health as they would with their physical health.”
