Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat on Saturday flagged off a public health awareness walkathon organised by the Indian Society of Vascular and Interventional Radiology (ISVIR) as part of the ongoing ISVIR Midterm Complication Meet-2026.
The walkathon saw enthusiastic participation from doctors, members of Vizag Runners, medical students and representatives of voluntary organisations.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Sribharat said that although Visakhapatnam had made remarkable progress in the healthcare sector over the years, there was considerable scope for expanding super-speciality services, strengthening medical infrastructure and increasing the availability of highly skilled specialists.
Describing Interventional Radiology as one of the most significant advances in modern medicine, Mr. Sribharat said minimally invasive, image-guided procedures were transforming the treatment of vascular and several other complex diseases. These procedures, he said, offered patients safer treatment, faster recovery and better clinical outcomes. Wider adoption of such advanced technologies, he added, would significantly improve healthcare delivery.
