Millions of Americans depend on Social Security, and knowing when that payment will come through is crucial for budgeting.
Payment dates are determined by your birthday and in some cases, when you first started collecting benefits.
In July, there are four dates beneficiaries will get paid — and the roughly 7.5 million Americans receiving SSI will see a second deposit.
Here’s the complete July 2026 Social Security payment schedule.
July 2026 Social Security payment dates
July 3 — Beneficiaries who began receiving Social Security before May 1997, or who receive both Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
July 8 — Recipients with birthdays between the 1st and 10th
July 15 — Recipients with birthdays between the 11th and 20th
July 22 — Recipients with birthdays between the 21st and 31st
Why do payment dates differ?
According to the agency’s official benefit calendar, payments are staggered across the month based on birth dates.
Beneficiaries born earlier in the month are paid on the second Wednesday, mid-month birthdays on the third Wednesday and late-month birthdays on the fourth Wednesday.
People who began collecting before May 1997 follow a different rule — their checks typically arrive on the third of each month.
When do SSI payments arrive in July?
SSI — Supplemental Security Income — is a separate needs-based federal program for people who are aged, blind or disabled with limited income and resources.
It is administered by the SSA but operates on a different payment schedule than Social Security retirement or disability benefits. A person can receive both.
SSI benefits follow a separate schedule and are generally issued on the first of the month — unless that date falls on a weekend or federal holiday.
For July, SSI payments go out July 1.
August SSI payment arrives in July
August’s SSI payment will arrive early on July 31 because Aug. 1 falls on a Saturday, meaning SSI recipients will see two deposits in July.
This kind of shift is standard — when a payment date falls on a weekend or holiday, the SSA moves the payment to the last business day before it.
