The date applies to people who receive retirement, survivors, or disability benefits and whose birthday falls between the 11th and 20th of any month, provided they are on the standard post-May 1997 payment schedule.

This is not an extra payment or a bonus check.
It is the regular June 2026 Social Security payment for one group of beneficiaries under the Social Security Administration’s monthly schedule.
The SSA pays most retirement, survivors, and disability benefits on the second, third or fourth Wednesday of each month, depending on the recipient’s date of birth.
For June 2026, the third Wednesday falls on June 17.
Who gets paid on June 17?
The June 17 payment is for beneficiaries whose birthdays are between the 11th and 20th of the month.
This includes eligible recipients of Social Security retirement benefits, survivors benefits, and Social Security Disability Insurance, also known as SSDI.
However, not everyone with a birthday in that range will be paid on June 17.
People who began receiving Social Security before May 1997 are generally paid on the 3rd of the month.
Those who receive both Social Security and Supplemental Security Income, or SSI, are also typically paid under a different schedule, with their Social Security payment arriving on the 3rd.
For June 2026, that group was scheduled to receive its Social Security payment on Wednesday, June 3.
SSI payments were scheduled separately on Monday, June 1.

- June 3 was for people who began receiving Social Security before May 1997, as well as many people who receive both Social Security and SSI.

- June 17 is for beneficiaries with birthdays from the 11th through the 20th.
- June 24 is for beneficiaries with birthdays from the 21st through the 31st.
