Social Security payments in Texas are getting a major change as the agency moves to fully electronic payments in June 2026. The Social Security Administration says the shift is meant to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance security in federal payments. It follows federal law and Executive Order 14247 approved in September 2025, which required all federal benefits be paid via the web. The agency says beneficiaries who need an exception can request a waiver through the U.S. Treasury, and Social Security benefits Texans should switch to electronic payments as soon as possible.
