TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Northeast Kansans walked for a good cause at West Ridge Mall Saturday.

NAMI Kansas hosted the event, inviting attendees to walk around the mall.

NAMI Kansas Executive Director Sherrie Vaughn says the event is meant to create a community feel as guests shared why they were there.

“It’s a family, you know, and it is vulnerable,” she said. “In order to be vulnerable and to share your story, you’ve got to trust those with whom you’re with and who you’re sharing it with.“

Attendees visited booths around the mall and could purchase shirts to raise money for mental health awareness.
