Members of the PUSH IT JA team enjoy the outdoors during the ‘Hike or Bike’ wellness initiative, one of several activities under the ‘More Good Days Together’ campaign promoting connection, balance and healthier lifestyles. The team was responsible for leading the warm-up, as well as providing guidance and assistance along the trail..

SAGICOR Group Jamaica is sustaining a workplace where team members feel supported, valued and empowered to thrive. Through a series of initiatives focused on mental, physical and emotional well-being, this Mental Health Awareness Month, the group continued to reinforce a culture rooted in care, connection and balance.

Under the theme ‘More Good Days Together’, this year’s activities built on Sagicor’s ongoing commitment to workplace wellness, reflecting an approach that goes beyond a single month to foster an environment where team members feel connected, encouraged and equipped to succeed both professionally and personally.

Throughout the month, team members across the group took part in initiatives designed to encourage conversation, movement and connection. These included ‘Mom’s Café: Sipping and Brewing’, a Mother’s Day discussion session on motherhood, mental wellness and support for women, and ‘Desk Moves — Small Moves, Big Impact!’ virtual desk workouts led by fitness instructor Body by Kurt to help team members stay active during the workday.

Sagicor also launched ‘Stronger Together — Building a Culture of Mental Wellness’, a training campaign running from May to October 2026 to keep mental health conversations active and equip team members and leaders with tools to strengthen workplace support. This year, the group went a step further by training 19 team members as mental aid ambassadors, a move that will help build deeper peer support and foster a more responsive, caring workplace culture.

“What I appreciate most is that the initiatives are not just check-the-box activities. They genuinely create opportunities for us to pause, connect and prioritise ourselves in the middle of busy schedules. Whether it’s the workout sessions, the wellness conversations or simply spending time with colleagues outside of the office, it reminds us that our well-being matters,” said team member Kimone Johnson, pension administrator.

According to Coretta Foster, vice-president, group human resources & people experience at Sagicor Group Jamaica, investing in team member wellness remains a key priority for the organisation.

“Creating a supportive workplace culture goes beyond policies and programmes. It is about ensuring our team members feel valued, heard and empowered to prioritise their well-being. At Sagicor, we understand that mental wellness is an essential part of overall wellness, and we remain committed to fostering an environment where our people can thrive both personally and professionally. This is something we have always stood by and incorporated in our Sagicor culture, but Mental Health Awareness Month allows us to ramp it up even more,” said Foster.

As part of the month’s activities, Sagicor also hosted its highly anticipated ‘Hike or Bike’ wellness event for team members, which returned this year after last being staged in 2022. The initiative encourages team bonding, exercise and relaxation outside of the traditional work environment.

Additional wellness initiatives include health screenings through the Sagicor Wellness Bus, offering services such as blood pressure, cholesterol, BMI and ECG checks for team members, as well as the relaunch of after-work fitness sessions led by Body by Kurt, which will continue beyond the month of May.

Team members of Sagicor Group Jamaica embrace the outdoors and good energy at the company’s annual Hike or Bike wellness event, held as part of its Mental Health Awareness Month activities.
