Menstrual health awareness and support systems for adolescent girls are being prioritised by the Delhi government as part of broader efforts to improve health and well-being in schools and communities.

Speaking during a video conference, Delhi leader Rekha Gupta said the government has made it a priority to establish medical rooms in schools across the capital. The initiative is aimed at strengthening health support mechanisms and creating a more supportive environment for students.

Menstrual hygiene is closely linked to the health, dignity and confidence of every girl.

The Delhi Government remains committed to strengthening menstrual health awareness, improving hygiene facilities and creating a safe and supportive environment for young girls.

Gupta also highlighted the importance of communication and guidance during a girl’s first experience with menstruation, stating that parents and guardians play a critical role in helping children understand and navigate the changes associated with adolescence. She stressed the need for awareness, emotional support, and access to proper hygiene facilities.

The Delhi government said it remains focused on improving menstrual health awareness, hygiene infrastructure, and health education programmes for young girls. Officials noted that such measures are intended to support health, confidence, and school participation among adolescents while promoting a safer and more inclusive educational environment.
