Artemis II Returns to Earth Safely After Travelling Around The Moon

It’s the story that captured the attention of the world, the 10-day journey of the Artemis II, which ended with a safe splash down in the Pacific Ocean.

Four astronauts were onboard the spacecraft as it travelled deeper into space than ever before, sending home new images of the moon and Earth, in what has been described as the start of a new era of space exploration.

You can read more about the journey, and crew members Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen here.

Blue and Yellow Macaws Returning to Rio After 200 Years

They’re the iconic bird from Brazil, the blue-and-yellow macaw that once flourished in Rio, but has been impacted significantly by modern deforestation.

However, efforts to return the birds to the area have taken a small but positive step forward, with four macaws reintroduced to Tijuca National Park in Rio for 15 days as part of a broader ‘refaunation’ program in the area.

The long-term plan is for 50 of the birds to be released into the park, to help rebuild the local ecology and eventually bring the entire forest back to life.

US Researchers One Step Closer to Beating TB

Scientists in the US have developed a new treatment targeting one of the world’s oldest diseases – tuberculosis.

Treating TB requires a course of antibiotics lasting six months, and one of the key issues has been around drug-resistance – or bacteria that aren’t killed off and wait in the body to re-emerge at a later date.

Now, researchers at John Hopkins Medicine have developed a new approach to clear the disease faster, and prevent the disease from relapsing once treatment has ended.

12 Year Old Girl Saves Brothers From Burning Home

A 12-year-old girl is being described as a hero after stepping off the school bus to see her home engulfed in flames, and running toward it to save her brothers.

The fire broke out at the home in Georgia in the US on a Monday afternoon, and when Macy Johnson saw the flames she immediately ran to the front door, opened it and screamed for her brothers to get out.

Inside were her two older brothers – one asleep unwell in bed and the other getting ready for work – both managed to make it out unharmed.

However with the home almost destroyed, the family believe if it weren’t for Macy’s actions, the outcome could have been tragic.

Read more about the brave girl’s actions here.
