Following the success of the inaugural event, Nimble Media has announced the return of The Big Construction Diversity Challenge on Friday 19 June 2026.

Designed to support and promote Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) across the construction sector, this unique, team-based event blends the high-energy fun of It’s a Knockout with the mental challenge of The Krypton Factor – creating a memorable experience with a meaningful mission.

The UK construction industry continues to face serious diversity challenges. According to the Construction Industry Council:

    • Only 5.4% of construction workers are from Black, Asian, or minority ethnic backgrounds.
    • Just 11% of the workforce is women, with only 1% working on-site.
    • Over 500,000 UK-born workers are expected to leave the sector within the next 10–15 years.

The Big Construction Diversity Challenge, aims to tackle these issues head-on by uniting the sector through inclusive, engaging, and inspiring team activities, while raising vital funds for its charity partner, CRASH.

Trisha Pickersgill, Chief Executive of CRASH, commented: “We are thrilled that CRASH is returning as charity partner for The Big Construction Diversity Challenge 2026. Last year’s event highlighted the power of teamwork and inclusivity across our industry, and we look forward to building on that success together this year.

“It’s inspiring to see the event growing in momentum and impact, bringing the industry together to celebrate equality, diversity and inclusion. We are proud to support an initiative that aligns so closely with our values and the collaborative spirit of construction.”

BMN is a media partner for the Big Construction Diversity Challenge. Lucyanne Matthews, BMN Associate Publisher, commented: “BMN has been at the forefront of raising awareness around equity, diversity and inclusion for many years, through work with the industry federation, organising thought-leadership debates, and recognising companies who strive to make the merchant sector more inclusive, by launching a specific category at the Builders’ Merchants Awards.

“The BMN team has championed making the sector inclusive for all and is proud to be partnering with the Big Construction Diversity Challenge to continue its work around making merchanting a better place for everyone to thrive in.”

Vicky Binley, Director of Nimble Media, added: “We are incredibly proud to bring The Big Construction Diversity Challenge back for 2026 following the outstanding success of the inaugural event. It is clear that the construction industry recognises the need for meaningful progress in equality, diversity, and inclusion.

“This event offers a unique and engaging platform to drive that change – not just through conversation, but through collaboration, connection, and action. We look forward to welcoming organisations from across the sector to join us on this vital journey.”

BMN is a media partner for the event. Lucyanne Matthews, Associate Publisher for BMN, said:
