Some Social Security recipients are to get their latest monthly money at the end of next week, in the second payment run on the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) benefits schedule for April.
On Friday, Apr. 3, payments will go out to two groups of Americans who claim Social Security retirement, survivor or disability benefits.
Who’s receiving Social Security on Friday, Apr. 3?
- Some long-standing Social Security recipients
April’s Social Security benefits are to be distributed to recipients who began claiming before May 1997.
Apr. 3 is also the payment date for Social Security recipients who also get Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
A scheme for certain low-income individuals, SSI differs from Social Security as it does not depend on a recipient’s work record. SSI benefits – which average $735.91 – are to be paid out on Wednesday, Apr. 1.
How much are Social Security benefits?
Per the SSA’s latest stats, average monthly Social Security benefits are:
- Retired workers: $2,076.41
- Disabled workers: $1,633.76
- Survivors: $1,623.28
When are other Social Security beneficiaries paid for April?
Of the nearly 71 million Americans who get Social Security, most will be paid on one of three Wednesdays. A recipient’s designated Wednesday depends on the birthday of the worker who has earned the entitlement:
- Born on 1st-10th of any month: Weds., Apr. 8
- Born on 11th-20th of any month: Weds., Apr. 15
- Born on 21st-31st of any month: Weds., Apr. 22
How does Social Security pay benefits?
Social Security beneficiaries can supply the SSA with their bank details using the online “my Social Security” tool.
Benefits can be loaded onto the Direct Express Card, a debit card for federal disbursements made to people without a bank account. Sign up at 1-800-333-1795 or 1-800-772-1213, or at a Social Security office.
