Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the backbone of Thailand’s economy. According to the Office of Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion (OSMEP), more than 3.3 million SMEs operated last year, employing over 13.7 million people—about one-third of Thailand’s total workforce. These businesses are engines of resilience and community development and are leading Thailand’s digital transformation.

Over 70% are already using or testing artificial intelligence (AI), and 86% rely on digital platforms in their daily operations. These technological advancements create new opportunities for efficiency and growth, helping SMEs stay competitive in a rapidly evolving market.

However, alongside these exciting opportunities, external risks are growing. Global tensions, driven by ongoing conflicts and political uncertainties worldwide, are increasing risks that could disrupt supply chains, affect trade routes, and cause economic volatility. Climate change and unpredictable weather add further challenges to this environment. These external uncertainties mean SMEs must be quick to adapt and build resilience—so they can withstand shocks and continue to grow, even in uncertain times.

In this complex environment, being prepared and supported by trusted partners to prevent all potential risks is essential. At AXA Insurance Thailand, we understand entrepreneurs’ challenges and are committed to helping SMEs turn risks into opportunities. Guided by our commitment to “Protecting What Matters,” we offer tailored SmartPlan SME packages designed to meet various business needs. These include SmartPlan Shop for retail stores, SmartPlan Service for service-based businesses, SmartPlan F&B for food and beverage operators. Each plan offers several coverages, including protection against risks such as property damage, liability, business interruption, with coverage limits up to 30 million baht. These solutions help SMEs operate confidently, manage risks effectively, and ensure business continuity in a rapidly changing environment.

To further support employee well-being, AXA also offers Smart Health for SMEs, providing medical coverage of up to 1 million baht per illness (depending on the selected plan). The plan features simplified enrollment with no health checks required, flexible options, and cashless claims through AXA’s hospital network—making healthcare accessible for businesses of all sizes.

“SMEs are navigating an increasingly complex business environment, where opportunities and risks go hand in hand,” said Paweena Khemarangsan, Chief Customer Officer of AXA Insurance Thailand. “At AXA, we are committed to supporting our SME partners with practical, comprehensive insurance solutions, enabling them to proactively prepare for potential challenges. Our solutions not only protect what matters most but also empower them to grow with confidence and resilience.”

As businesses continue to evolve in a fast-changing landscape, AXA Insurance Thailand remains dedicated to empowering SMEs with the protection they need to build resilience and achieve sustainable growth.
