The Ministry of Youth, Social Development and Seniors marks Neurodiversity Celebration Week 2026, promoting inclusion and support for neurodivergent children and their families.

A Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Youth, Social Development and Seniors recognises Neurodiversity Celebration Week 2026, observed from March 16–20 under the theme “From Awareness to Action.” The theme encourages individuals, organisations and communities to move beyond awareness and take practical steps that promote inclusion, accessibility and opportunity for neurodivergent individuals and their families.

“The Ministry remains committed to strengthening programmes and services that support children and young people with diverse neurological profiles and ensuring that they have access to safe, inclusive and enriching experiences. Through The Office of Youth Affairs [TOYA] youth programmes, community initiatives and partnerships, the Ministry continues to expand opportunities that allow neurodivergent children to participate fully and confidently.

“In recent months, the Ministry has taken steps to address gaps in services for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder [ASD], including developing more inclusive camp and recreational programming and providing additional autism training for staff.

“The Ministry also continues to support community organisations providing specialised services for neurodivergent children. This includes a $30,000 grant to Tomorrow’s Voices, which supports programmes and resources for individuals with autism and their families in Bermuda.

“As the week is observed, the Ministry encourages the community to consider practical ways to support neurodiversity, including increasing training on neurodiversity and inclusive communication, recognising that people process information, social cues and sensory input differently, fostering environments where differences are respected rather than stigmatised, and encouraging individuals to share what supports help them succeed.

“Parents and caregivers have welcomed the Ministry’s efforts to expand inclusive programming. One parent recently shared their appreciation for the Ministry’s work in addressing the need for suitable camp programming for children with ASD and for providing additional autism training for staff, noting that these efforts are reflected in the quality of care and programming being delivered.

“The Ministry of Youth, Social Development and Seniors reaffirms its commitment to working with families, educators and community organisations to ensure that neurodivergent individuals are supported and valued.”
