Buxar: A seminar on mental health and inner wellness was organised at the Government Engineering College (GEC), Buxar, on Saturday to create awareness among students about mental wellbeing, positive thinking and inner peace. The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by principal Ram Naresh Rai along with guests from the Brahma Kumaris organisation.Addressing the gathering, Rai said maintaining mental balance is crucial for students in today’s fast-paced world. He emphasised that besides academic excellence, positive thinking and self-control are essential for overall development. Another speaker, Dharamendra Bhaiya, said peace of mind and positive thoughts are key to success. He encouraged students to practise meditation regularly to reduce stress and build confidence.Earlier, a campus placement drive was conducted in collaboration with SLMG Beverages, the bottling partner of Coca-Cola. Forty final-year students appeared for the written test, of whom 27 qualified for the group discussion and 16 advanced to the technical and interview rounds. Following the final interviews conducted by general manager (HR) Pushpak Srivastava, 10 students were selected for employment at the Buxar plant, while the results of two candidates were kept on hold.The principal congratulated the selected students, saying such drives help bridge the gap between academics and industry. The placement drive was coordinated by TPO coordinator Gaurav Parmar and Dean (Academics) Anjani Kumar Tiwari. The seminar was hosted by assistant professor Surbhi Rani.
