Mental health challenges among Filipino workers are emerging as a growing concern not only for families and workplaces, but for the broader economy.

Insights highlighted during the recent National Mental Health Summit estimate that poor mental well-being now results in P68.9 billion in annual productivity losses, largely due to absenteeism and reduced on-the-job performance.

Amid these concerns, the Amare PH GForce Legacy Team has launched “G! Amare: Your K-Partner sa Ginhawa,” an online community-led mental wellness initiative that seeks to help Filipinos move beyond coping in silence toward sustainable, everyday well-being.

For Jenny Jaime, an Amare Brand Partner and GForce Leader, the advocacy reflects lived experience.

“Filipinos are known for resilience, but resilience should not mean enduring everything alone,” Jaime said.

“As a single mother raising three children, I experienced how constant pressure can quietly affect both health and family life. This community reminded me that wellness is something we build together. G! Amare is about helping families find their own sense of ginhawa—at home, at work, and in life,” she added.

The initiative reframes resilience as a shared effort – within households, organizations, and communities — rather than an individual burden.

Central to the movement is education on the Gut-Brain Axis (GBX), a field of research that explores how gut health influences stress response, mood regulation, and emotional balance. Studies have shown that the gut plays a significant role in producing neurotransmitters associated with emotional well-being, underscoring the connection between physical and mental health.

By localizing this science and integrating it into daily routines, G! Amare aims to address stress at its biological roots while fostering a culture of care grounded in Filipino values such as bayanihan and malasakit.

The Philippines’ growing attention to mental wellness has also drawn international interest. Rikki Brown, an Amare leader with more than 20 years of experience in the US wellness sector, described the country as uniquely positioned to lead community-driven approaches to well-being.

“The Philippines plays a vital role in the global service economy,” Brown noted. “Supporting mental wellness here is not only timely — it’s essential. Bringing established Gut-Brain Axis science into a community-based model respects both global research and local culture.”

This perspective is shared by David Chung, Chairman and CEO of Amare Global, who has championed mental wellness as both a health and societal priority.

“With the growing demand for mental wellness solutions, Amare leads with innovative and efficacious products that support the gut-brain axis (GBX) and a healthy microbiome to support mental wellness and a balanced lifestyle,” Chung said.
