Essential oil company doTERRA received the “Best Essential Oils” designation in Oprah Daily‘s2026 Self-Care O-wards, an annual awards program that identifies wellness and personal care products through expert evaluation and staff testing. The Pleasant Grove, Utah-based company was recognized for the versatility of its product line and its ethical sourcing practices.
Holistic wellness coach and entrepreneur Erica Reid, one of the expert panelists for the awards, cited doTERRA oils as a daily fixture in her routine. “I sprinkle some in my hands, rub them together, and inhale. It supports my nervous system and helps me stay in balance or get settled,” Reid said in the Oprah Daily feature. She noted using lavender on bed linens as a bedtime ritual for herself and her children, and eucalyptus in the shower to ease congestion.
Testing Protocol Distinguishes Brand
doTERRA oils carry the CPTG Certified Pure Tested Grade designation, a quality testing protocol the company developed in the absence of an industry-wide standard for essential oil purity. According to doTERRA’s testing documentation, the CPTG process involves eight distinct methods across four stages: chemistry analysis, physical testing, contamination screening, and ongoing stability evaluation.
Each batch undergoes review immediately after distillation, then again at the production facility, and a third time during packaging. Testing methods include gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, and microbial analysis to screen for fungi, bacteria, viruses, and mold.

Global Sourcing Network
doTERRA sources more than 140 essential oils from 45 countries worldwide, with more than half of those locations classified as developing nations. Through its Cō-Impact Sourcing program, launched in 2016, the company works directly with farmers and distillers to establish long-term partnerships that include on-time payments at agreed-upon prices.
A 2024 impact report released by the company indicated that its Healing Hands Foundation donated more than $3 million that year, supporting initiatives in 14 countries that included clean water projects in Nepal, educational programs in Ghana, and medical support in Eswatini.
Market Position
doTERRA reports serving more than 10 million customers globally and exceeding $2 billion in annual revenue, according to statements made by doTERRA CEO Kirk Jowers during the company’s Jumpstart 2025 event. Oils account for 57 percent of total sales, with nutritional products comprising 26 percent and personal care items representing 14 percent.
The Oprah Daily Self-Care O-wards, now in its second year, evaluated 48 products across categories, including recovery tools, technology, fitness equipment, gut health supplements, and beauty products, including doTERRA’s win for Best Essential Oils. Expert panelists included Peloton instructor Hannah Corbin, wellness author Gabby Bernstein, trainer Isaac Boots, and endocrinologist Caroline Messer. The publication noted that editors spent extensive time testing contenders before finalizing selections.
