This is a remote, full-time position based in the United States. Applicants should be US-based and available for posted office hours 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern.

    Job Description

This role supports the ongoing continuity and maintenance of WorkersCompensation.com’s compliance and jurisdictional research resources, including responsibilities currently transitioning due to a planned retirement within the department.

WorkersCompensation.com’s products are generally designed to help make life easier for workers’ compensation claim adjusters. While focused primarily on adjusters as the primary end-user, WorkersCompensation.com offerings may also benefit injured employees themselves, insured employers, self-insured employers, insurance carriers, third party administrators, underwriters, and risk managers. We function not only to assist users in maintaining compliance with the applicable rules or acts in their jurisdiction but also intend these resources to help them navigate the workers’ compensation system more comfortably and efficiently.

Many WorkersCompensation.com offerings aim to assist claim parties in the identification and utilization of relevant rules, statutes, and case law. The job of a Compliance and Research Specialist entails more than simply locating and regurgitating applicable statute, however, as our compliance offerings should be created and maintained so as to be useful for even potentially inexperienced users like recently self-insured employers. The ability to complete independent research of complex workers’ compensation-related topics, analyze and interpret these related findings, and create personally written guidance resources free of ambiguity or legalese when and wherever possible is fundamental to this role.

This position in no way involves the adjustment or handling of active workers’ compensation claims. WorkersCompensation.com does not sell, write, bind, or otherwise coordinate workers’ compensation policies. Our organization does not handle workers’ compensation claims on behalf of any party, whether they be a subscribing client employer or not. Although this is not a Claims Adjuster position, prior claims adjusting experience is necessary. Our products center around the claim process, from start to finish. A deep understanding of the thought processes and workflows involved in the handling of workers’ compensation claims is mandatory.  Our products primarily support the work that adjusters do; a working knowledge of their job is important.

A Compliance and Research Specialist in this role will be responsible for day-to-day activities including monitoring the various workers’ compensation rules and statutes in each of the 50 states to ensure our compliance database contains the most up-to-date information for our clients and products. These developments must be constantly tracked. Any legislative or jurisdictional updates that impact existing compliance resources must be documented and incorporated into these offerings as timely as possible. Successful applicants will also be asked to prioritize prompt response times to user inquiries or requests for clarification of proffered compliance resources.

A party in this role will need to be comfortable periodically contacting members of the various state Division or Office of Workers’ Compensation when and where further guidance is needed. Contact is typically made via phone or email. Compliance and Research Specialists may also be asked to remotely attend—or lead—client-facing demonstrations to familiarize both new and existing users with WorkersCompensation.com products.

This is a very detail-oriented role with a heavy emphasis on research regarding workers’ compensation matters across the various jurisdictions. A successful candidate will be a self-starter who excels at time management within the remote working environment. While former adjusters may have been able to rely on external motivators—strict jurisdictional timelines, organizational response expectations, constant employer or claimant communication back-and-forth, etc.—to remain on task this may not be the case with this role. Members of this department oversee various jurisdictions and are expected to manage their time efficiently so as to ensure all internal expectations are met.

    Essential Duties and Responsiblities

    • Monitor and ensure compliance of workers’ compensation laws, regulations, and policies.
    • Develop and maintain databases of internal and external compliance information.
    • Assist in the research and analysis of workers’ compensation trends.
    • Prepare compliance reports and summaries.
    • Ensure accuracy of all workers’ compensation claim-related documents and records offered to WorkersCompensation.com users.
    • Receive, research, and respond to inquiries from users of WorkersCompensation.com product offerings.

    Qualifications:

    • At least five (5) years of experience in a workers’ compensation adjusting or compliance-related role.
    • Comprehensive knowledge and skill within the workers’ compensation industry, including researching, finding, extracting, organizing, analyzing, evaluating, and presenting information.
    • Proficient in utilizing and maintaining databases to track and analyze compliance and investigative data.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work in small groups.
    • A proven ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload.
    • An ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
    • Detail-oriented with strong multitasking, prioritization, and organizational skills.
    • Familiarity with HubSpot or related customer relationship management-hosted offerings.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and the ability to learn in-house content and data administration applications.

This position comes with a salary commensurate with the prospective hire’s qualifications and experience. Qualified candidates may expect starting salaries beginning at $60,000.

WorkersCompensation.com offers a rewarding employee experience including remote work, competitive compensation, generous paid time off (PTO), sick days, personal days, 401(k) match up to 4%, and employer-sponsored health, dental, vision, and life insurance.

To apply, please send a cover letter, resume, and salary requirements to sales@workerscompensation.com.
