DCA index offers detailed inclusion metrics for insurers

For insurers and other participating organisations, DCA’s Inclusive Employer Index provides data on workforce diversity characteristics and reported experiences of inclusion and exclusion across different employee groups. The survey looks at inclusion at team, manager, and organisational levels and examines how results vary by factors such as disability status, caring responsibilities, cultural background, and sexual orientation. The index also explores the reported links between inclusion and indicators such as team effectiveness, innovation, customer service, effort, job satisfaction, and turnover intentions. Organisations can use this information when evaluating their diversity and inclusion policies and programs. For insurance companies, which rely on specialist skills and operate under close regulatory attention on culture and conduct, these metrics can inform workforce planning and people risk management, as well as broader talent and retention strategies. MetLife Australia’s continued DCA Inclusive Employer status, together with its leave changes and external partnerships, provides one example of how a life insurer is integrating diversity and inclusion considerations into employment policies and using external benchmarks to track progress.
