    Mumbai, Jan 15: Yoga, an ancient practice rooted in India’s spiritual tradition, has gained renewed relevance in modern times as people increasingly turn to holistic methods to improve their physical and mental health.

    Experts say regular practice of yoga helps enhance flexibility, strength and balance, while also reducing stress, anxiety and lifestyle-related ailments. Through a combination of asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques) and meditation, yoga promotes harmony between the body and mind.

    Medical professionals have highlighted yoga’s role in managing conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, obesity and back pain. It is also known to improve concentration, sleep quality and emotional stability, making it beneficial for people of all age groups.

    With hectic schedules and rising stress levels, yoga has found a place in daily routines across urban and rural India alike. Government initiatives, including the celebration of International Day of Yoga on June 21, have further encouraged people to adopt the practice as a preventive healthcare measure.

    Health experts emphasise that yoga is not merely a form of exercise but a disciplined way of life that fosters overall well-being. They advise beginners to learn under trained instructors and practise regularly for lasting benefits.

    As awareness grows, yoga continues to stand out as a time-tested, cost-effective and natural approach to achieving a healthier and more balanced lifestyle.
