An Australian grandfather, has celebrated his 89th birthday by skydiving 13,000 feet over the Sunshine Coast with his grandson, showing adventure doesn’t have an age limit.

Donald Walker completed his third skydive, saying he plans to keep jumping for as long as he can. Inspired by aircraft he watched as a child during World War II, he first skydived at age 70 and hasn’t looked back.

Donald hopes his story encourages others to stay active and embrace new experiences, with Skydive Australia reporting growing numbers of older Australians taking to the skies. Read more and view his skydive here.

Humpback whales return in growing numbers to Brazil’s coastline

Humpback whales are being spotted in increasing numbers off Rio de Janeiro, marking a major conservation success after the species was driven to the brink by commercial whaling.

Their population has risen from around 2,000 to an estimated 35,000 over the past 40 years, with scientists now recording more frequent sightings in Guanabara Bay during the whales’ annual migration.

Researchers are continuing to study their movements as they explore new areas along Brazil’s coastline, while their recovery is also boosting interest in responsible whale watching. Read more about the whales here.

Across the United States, people who leave their cars outside bars after a night out are finding coffee gift cards and handwritten thank you notes from anonymous ‘Bar Fairies’, recognising their decision not to drive after drinking.

The movement was started by a Montana mother and daughter after losing a family member to a drunk driving crash and has since spread to communities across the country, encouraging safer choices through small acts of kindness.

Thousands of gift cards have now been handed out as the initiative continues to grow. Read the full story here.
