Social Security payments scheduled out for June begin this week for beneficiaries of the federal assistance program.
Wednesday, June 10, will be the first payment date for June for retired, disabled workers or survivors. June 17 and 24 will be the following payment dates, according to the Social Security Administration calendar.
The schedule is based on the birth dates of the recipients, so the first wave of checks are for those with early-June birthdays.
In the latest Cost-of-Living (COLA) forecast for Social Security payments in 2027, the bipartisan advocacy group The Senior Citizens League, predicted a 3.9% increase which would be 1.1 percentage points higher than the increase in 2026.
On Wednesday, June 10, beneficiaries will relatively get a better idea of where the 2027 COLA forecast is headed after the Consumer Price Index (CPI) releases its May 2026 inflation report — which will also share inflation trends from the last 12 months.
“Nothing in this report will technically influence the 2027 Social Security COLA, because the COLA is based on average third-quarter inflation data — that is, data from July, August, and September. But the May report will give us some insight into whether inflation is rising, holding steady, or falling,” The Motley Fool, a financial and investing advice company, and USA TODAY content partner, said on June 8.
The official COLA will be announced in October.
