Survival times doubled with pill for pancreatic cancer
A promising new pill has nearly doubled survival times for patients with advanced pancreatic cancer in a major international trial, offering fresh hope against one of the world’s deadliest cancers.
Researchers found patients taking daraxonrasib lived an average of 13.2 months compared to 6.6 months for those receiving standard chemotherapy, while also experiencing fewer severe side-effects.
Experts have described the results as a potential ‘game changer’, given the aggressive nature of the disease.

Dog rescued from island after a kilometre swim from shore
A dog has been reunited with its owners after it swam almost a kilometre through open water to reach a small island after being swept off rocks off the New South Wales south coast.
The amazing rescue operation unfolded near Batemans Bay after onlookers spotted the dog in the water.
Marine Rescue volunteers spent an hour searching for and gently coaxing the exhausted pup onto a jet ski to take it to safety.

Greece removed from crisis list
Greece has been removed from the European Union’s list of countries suffering macroeconomic imbalances, for the first time since the Greek financial crisis more than 15 years ago.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis says it formally ends the debt crisis, which involved extensive bailouts and monitoring.
The EU cited strong debt reduction and a drop in unemployment as some of the key improvements.

Angola expedition uncovers dozens of new creepy crawlies
Scientists exploring one of Africa’s most remote and least-studied regions have discovered dozens of bug species, including eight new dragonflies, three grasshoppers and a remarkable spider that glows under ultraviolet light.
The discoveries were made on Angola’s remote Lisima Plateau, a biodiversity hotspot that feeds four major African river systems and has remained largely unexplored for decades.
Researchers say they are in a race against time to document the many species under threat from deforestation and diamond mining in the region.
