Millions of Americans receiving Social Security benefits can expect June 2026 payments to arrive on their normal schedule, with no major delays or holiday changes affecting this month’s distribution. According to the Social Security Administration’s calendar, payments will continue to be sent based on recipients’ birth dates.
More than 70 million Americans rely on Social Security benefits each month, including retirees, disabled workers, survivors, and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients. Because of the large number of beneficiaries, the SSA spreads payments throughout the month instead of issuing them all at once.
June 2026 Social Security Payment Dates
Here is the full June 2026 Social Security payment schedule:
- Monday, June 1 — SSI recipients
- Wednesday, June 3 — Beneficiaries who began receiving Social Security before May 1997 or who receive both SSI and Social Security
- Wednesday, June 10 — Recipients born between the 1st and 10th
- Wednesday, June 17 — Recipients born between the 11th and 20th
- Wednesday, June 24 — Recipients born between the 21st and 31st
Why Some Recipients Get Paid Earlier
Social Security retirement and disability benefits are generally paid on Wednesdays, depending on a beneficiary’s birth date.
However, certain groups follow different payment rules. People who started collecting benefits before May 1997, live outside the United States, or receive both SSI and Social Security are usually paid on the third day of the month.
SSI payments are typically sent on the first business day of each month. If the first falls on a weekend or federal holiday, payments are issued early.
No Major Calendar Changes for June
Unlike some months that include early deposits because of weekends or holidays, June 2026 follows a standard payment schedule with no unusual timing changes.
However, recipients could see scheduling adjustments later in the year. July, October, and December 2026 are expected to include double SSI payment months because of calendar quirks tied to weekends and federal holidays.
Average Social Security Benefits Increased in 2026
Social Security recipients also saw larger monthly payments this year after the 2026 cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) increased benefits by 2.8%. The average retirement benefit is now slightly above $2,000 per month for many retirees.
The Social Security program remains under financial pressure, with projections showing the trust fund could face depletion within the next decade if Congress does not approve reforms. Experts warn that automatic benefit reductions could occur in the future without legislative action.
