As Americans observe Memorial Day, some seniors might be concerned about potential delays to their Social Security benefits.
The Social Security Administration distributes payments to nearly 75 million Americans each month, many of whom depend on these benefits to cover their everyday expenses. Last year, the agency phased out paper checks, with all payments now issued via direct deposit.
Checks area also anticipated to increase next year. Americans rely on the annual Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) to plan their finances – a mechanism designed to offset rising expenses in the U.S. economy – and the anticipated increase is 3.9%. Beneficiaries can rest assured that payments will arrive as scheduled despite the holiday. Here’s a breakdown of when June payments will be issued.
